Newark, N.J : Police start search for hit-and-run driver in fatal accident in Newark on Sunday, January 29, 2017

Police are searching for the driver who struck and killed a New Jersey woman.

Essex County officials say 47-year-old Josette Morales, of Irvington, was hit by a car while crossing the street in Newark around 6:30 p.m. Sunday.

Morales was pronounced dead at the scene.

A description of the vehicle that hit Morales was not immediately provided.
