WASHINGTON COUNTY, WI : Two people injured in head-on crash on US 45 southbound on Wednesday, January, 31st 2018
A vehicle traveling northbound on U.S. 45 Wednesday afternoon lost control, crossed over the median and struck a southbound car head-on, the Washington County Sheriff's Office said.
The car that was hit started on fire, but it was put out quickly by a passer-by who had a fire extinguisher.
The driver of the striking vehicle was partially ejected from their vehicle and taken by Flight for Life to Froedtert Hospital.
The driver of the southbound car was taken to an area hospital by ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries.
The Sheriff's Office said driver impairment appears to be a contributing factor to the crash.
The crash happened at about 4:45 p.m. at Paradise Drive near West Bend.
