Eastham, MA : Pedestrian killed after struck by a car on Route 6 Eastham Saturday night August 8th 2015
A pedestrian was killed after being struck by a car in Eastham Saturday night. According to an Eastham police release, the incident occurred around 11:40 p.m. on Route 6 near the Brackett Road intersection. Eastham police officers and firefighters began CPR at the scene.
The victim, who sustained serious injuries in the crash, died en route to Cape Cod Hospital, the release said. Police have identified the victim as a 42-year-old male. His identity is being withheld pending notification of the family.
The 24-year-old driver of the Toyota Scion involved in the crash remained at the scene. Police have not identified the driver who is reportedly from Provincetown. It is not yet known if the driver will face charges related to the fatal crash.
Both lanes of Route 6 between Massasoit Road and Oak Road were closed to motorists until just before 5 a.m. Traffic was detoured on secondary roads during that time, police said.
The scene was processed by the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and Massachusetts State Police Crime Scene Services. Wellfleet and Orleans officers assisted with traffic control.
