Glasgow, KY : Driver of propane truck killed in wreck on KY 569 Powder Mill Road in Hart County early Tuesday, July 26, 2016

A Cave City man died Tuesday morning after overturning the propane truck he was driving on a road in Hart County.

The Kentucky State Police received a report of a wreck early Tuesday on KY 569 Powder Mill Road in Hart County involving a commercial propane truck, according to a KSP press release.

The preliminary KSP investigation indicated that Joseph Carter, 42, of Cave City, was operating a 2000 Freightliner propane truck and was traveling east on KY 569 at about 8:40 a.m. Tuesday when he started down a hill into a left-hand curve. Carter failed to negotiate the curve and exited the right side of the roadway where the truck rotated clockwise and then overturned. While overturning, the truck struck a tree causing significant damage to the cab of the truck, according to the release.

Carter was pronounced dead at the scene by the Hart County Coroner’s Office.

The investigation is still ongoing and being led by KSP Trooper First Class Jonathan McChesney. He was assisted on the scene by KSP Master Trooper Lonnie Hodges, KSP Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Officer Brian Woods, Hart County Coroner’s Office, Hart County Emergency Medical Service, Linwood Fire Department and the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
