Des Moines, IA : The Bachelor's Chris Soules arrested for allegedly leaving the scene of deadly tractor crash on April, monday 24th 2017

The Bachelor star Chris Soules is facing criminal charges in the wake of a fatal tractor accident near his Iowa City home.

Soules was arrested several hours after police say he fled the scene of a collision between his car and a tractor late Monday (April 24), law enforcement officials told The AP.According to the Iowa State Patrol, 66-year-old Kenneth Mosher died from injuries sustained when Soules's car knocked his tractor into a ditch. Soules is accused of speeding off before emergency services arrived.

Soules was arrested several hours later, charged with leaving the scene of a fatal accident and released from custody on $10,000 bond. If convicted, he could face five years behind bars.

Iowa police are currently investigating if alcohol containers found near the scene of the crash belonged to either of the parties involved. Additional charges could still be filed in this case.

In a statement released by his attorneys on Tuesday (April 25), Soules said he was "devastated" after being told that Mosher died from his injuries.
