Hampton,NH : 2 hurt after wrong-way crash on I-95 in Reading on October, Sunday 22th 2017
A South Carolina woman driving the wrong way on Interstate 95 in Reading early yesterday while possibly under the influence of alcohol left a New Hampshire man with serious injuries, according to state police.
Troopers responded to the crash at about 2:40 a.m. in the area of Exit 37A in Reading.
A 26-year-old woman from Conway, S.C., was traveling northbound on the southbound side of the interstate when she slammed her 2013 Honda Civic into a 2013 Volkswagen Jetta, state police said.
Both drivers were alone in their respective cars and rushed to Lahey Hospital and Medical Center in Burlington with serious injuries, state police said. Neither driver has been identified and the nature of their injuries was not disclosed.
State police say the circumstances surrounding the crash are still under investigation, but noted “alcohol is believed to have been a factor as it relates to the wrong-way operator.”
State police, Reading fire and EMS, Reading police, and officials from the state Department of Transportation all responded to the scene. The collision analysis and reconstruction and crime scene services of the state police are investigating the crash.
