Strong, AR : No serious injuries after bus carrying high school basketball team crashes in south Arkansas on Wednesday, December 30, 2015

Officials say there were no major injuries after a bus carrying members of a high school boys' basketball team crashed in south Arkansas.

Arkansas State Police say the bus carrying 18 people from the Strong-Huttig School District veered off U.S. 82 in Union County on Wednesday after colliding with a trailer, which had become detached from a log truck.

Strong-Huttig Superintendent Saul Lusk says the bus passengers were taken to the Medical Center of South Arkansas with minor injuries. Lusk tells the El Dorado-News Times that the school bus is likely totaled, but he's grateful no one was seriously hurt.

The team was headed to Hampton for a basketball game at the time of the crash, which happened in an area about 140 miles south of Little Rock.
