State police in York county say the crash happened shortly before 7 p.m. Thursday in Washington Township.
Troopers said their car was stopped in a southbound lane of Route 194 to make a turn when it was rear-ended by a sport utility vehicle, sending it into the path of a pickup truck and then into a car that had stopped at the intersection.
The county coroner's office said 73-year-old Arlene Folk of Lyon Station died at the scene and 53-year-old Mary Fedorick of Hazleton was flown to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Autopsies concluded that both women died of blunt force injuries. The driver of their car was also injured.
