Madison County, IL : Mother dies in Madison County crash on Monday mornin, July 7, 2014

A Benton, Ill., woman was killed in a one-vehicle accident early this morning in Madison County after the car in which she was a passenger struck a tree.

Diana M. Reginato, 44, died in the crash. It happened about 2 a.m. on Illinois Route 4, just south of Blue Spruce Lane in St. Jacob Township.

She was in a Pontiac G6 driven by her daughter, Nichole M. Reginato, 25, of Eldorado, Ill. Authorities say the younger Reginato fell asleep and the southbound car struck a tree.

Both women were wearing seatbelts and the airbags deployed. The daughter was airlifted to a hospital with injuries.
