TOWN OF NORWAY, WI : A Milwaukee man died after a two-vehicle crash on Thursday, January, 25th 2018
A Milwaukee man died after a two-vehicle crash on Thursday afternoon in the Town of Norway, the Racine County Sheriff’s Office reported.
At 1:44 p.m. Thursday, the Racine County Communications Center received multiple 911 calls reporting a crash at the intersection of Highway 45 and Seven Mile Road, according to a Sheriff’s Office news release issued Friday morning. Drought Elementary School is located at the northwest corner of the intersection.
Sheriff’s officials said the crash involved a 1996 Jeep Cherokee and a 2016 Freightliner utility bucket truck.
Investigation into the crash shows that the Jeep, driven by Anthony P. Simos, 54, of Milwaukee, was traveling west on Seven Mile Road. The release stated the Jeep pulled away from the stop sign and into the path of the truck, which was traveling north on Highway 45. Sheriff’s officials said the intersection is a two-way stop for traffic on Seven Mile Road, but traffic on Highway 45 does not have a stop sign.
Simos was transported by Wind Lake rescue to Froedtert Hospital in Wauwatosa, where he died from injuries sustained in the crash.
“The Racine County Sheriff’s Office would like to extend our condolences to the Simos family,” sheriff’s officals said.
This crash remains under investigation. The release stated that as of Friday morning, alcohol and speed did not appear to be factors in the crash.
