Corvallis, OR : Highway 20 crash seriously injures passenger on Saturday, 10th September 2016
The Benton County Sheriff's Office is investigating a single-vehicle crash that ejected a passenger from the car on Saturday evening, according to the authorities.
A press release stated that at approximately 9:17 p.m. on Saturday Carmine Silva, 34, of Albany was driving east on Highway 20, in a 2012 Honda Civic, when the vehicle hit the sidewalk near the intersection of Pilkington Avenue and collided with a telephone pole, shearing it in half. They also struck a culvert, a large tree, and two more culverts before landing on its roof.
The passenger, Christina Pecora, 35, was ejected from the vehicle and landed in the eastbound lane of Highway 20, which resulted in serious injuries.
Both were transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in Corvallis by an ambulance.
The driver, Carmine Silva was arrested for Assault II, Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants, Reckless Driving, Reckless Endangering, and Criminal Mischief II.
The public is asked to contact Detective Sgt. David Peterson at 541-766-6820 if they have any information. The Oregon Department of Transportation assisted at the scene and the roadway was closed for about four hours.
