Police continue to investigate a head-on crash early Monday that killed both drivers.
John Fragola, 67, of Killingworth and Mario Simmons, 51, of North Branford died from their injuries, police said.
The crash happened about 5:15 a.m. on Route 80, or Foxon Road, in the area of 630 Foxon Road. Arriving police and firefighters found both drivers unconscious, police said.
The men were removed from their vehicles, one of which was burning, they said. Firefighters provided medical care and put out the fire.
The road was closed in both directions for several hours while police investigated but has since reopened.
The South Central Regional Traffic Unit is investigating.
