South Haven, MI : Raven Monae Spencer, 19, died and four people injured in double-fatal crash on I-196 near Exit 20, in South Haven Township on Saturday, Aug 29, 2015
South Haven police have identified the victims of an early Saturday car crash that took the lives of two young women and sent three others to the hospital.
All were 19 or 20 years old and from Benton Harbor.
Killed in the 5 a.m. crash on I-196 near Exit 20 in South Haven Township was driver Lydia Christine McIntosh, 20. She died at the scene, according to information provided by Natalie Thompson, deputy chief of the South Haven Police Department.
Passenger Raven Monae Spencer, 19, died after she was transported to South Haven Hospital, police said.
Passengers Kiana Renee Morrison, 20, and Anacia Lashon Jackson, 19, were hospitalized in serious condition at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo. They remained there Sunday afternoon.
A fourth passenger, Stanesha Leann Perry, 20, was treated at Bronson hospital for her injuries and released.
Thompson said the women were southbound, and officers believe they were heading home to Benton Harbor but have not yet determined what may have caused the crash.
The investigation continues, Thompson said.
Emergency teams from The Covert Fire Department, Covert Police Department, Van Buren County Sheriff's Office, South Haven Area Emergency Services and Michigan State Police assisted at the crash site.
