WOODSTOWN, NJ : Tractor-trailer crash shuts down Route 40 for hours, police say on Thursday, October 5, 2017
Part of the main road through the borough was shut down for five hours early Thursday after a tractor-trailer jumped a curb and crashed, police said.
Woodstown Public Safety Director Cris Simmermon said the accident was reported at 1:38 a.m. on U.S. Route 40, also known as West Avenue.
According to Simmermon, the 2005 tractor-trailer, being driven by Leon-Herandez, 26, of Vineland, was headed westbound when it left the roadway in the area of 63 West Ave. and traveled along the sidewalk before coming to a halt at 75 West Ave.
Simmermon said there was "significant damage to vehicle and property" along with a fuel spill from the tractor-trailer, Simmermon said. The tractor-trailer did not hit the house there, but came to rest on the embankment in front of it.
Herandez refused medical treatment, according to Simmermon.
