Athens, GA : Colbert woman seriously injured in motorcycle wreck on Monday, March 6, 2017

A Madison County woman remained in the intensive care unit of Piedmont Athens Regional hospital Tuesday following a wreck on her motorcycle late Monday.

Susan Eileen Schaefer, 51, of Colbert was seriously injured in the crash, which occurred about 5:45 p.m. on Hull Road at the Old Hull Road intersection, according to an Athens-Clarke police report.

Police said a 29-year-old Comer man, driving a Ford Taurus, was stopped for a red light when the Kawasaki motorcycle driven by Schaefer ran into the rear of the car.

Police are still investigating the cause of the wreck.
