Lafayette, IN : 5-year-old struck in a northside hit-and-run accident on Wednesday evening, July 6, 2016

A 5-year-old girl was hospitalized Wednesday evening during a northside hit-and-run accident.

The crash occurred at 7:10 p.m. in the 2000 block of North 16th Street, according to a daily bulletin issued by Lafayette Police Department.

The girl sustained an abrasion and large cut but was awake and conscious after the crash. She was transported to an area hospital for treatment, according to Sgt. Scott Galloway.

Witnesses at the scene — neither of whom saw the crash — offered conflicting descriptions of the car.
