53 Year Old Woman Killed In Hwy 27 Crash in Frostproof Florida

Around 7:45 a.m. this morning, Tuesday, November 19th, a silver 2003 Toyota Matrix mini-van heading south on US 27 just south of Xeriscape Nursery Road in Frostproof, being driven by 53-year-old Sharon Williams of Avon Park, for unknown reasons entered into the grass median and then the northbound turn lane.According to witnesses and the investigation so far, it appears Williams then over-corrected and in an attempt to return to the southbound lanes, the minivan struck the concave portion of the median, became airborne, and rolled, ejecting Williams, who was not wearing a seatbelt. She was the sole occupant of the minivan.Speed appears to be a factor. No charges are pending.No other vehicles were involved.All roadways in the area were reopened by 10:00 a.m.
