KINDERHOOK, NY : Police identify victims in fatal two car crash on Route 9 in Kinderhook on Thursday, December 1st, 2016
One person was killed in a two-crash on Route 9 in Kinderhook Thursday night.
The crash happened at around 10:30 p.m. at the intersection of Herrick Road and Route 28.
Police say 74-year-old Judith Gagliardi was traveling southbound on Route 9 and was making a left turn onto County Route 28 when she collided with a 2004 Honda Civic operated by 27-year-old Donna Preuss traveling northbound.
Gagliardi, her passenger Wilma Westover, and Preuss were taken to Albany Medical Center to be treated for their injuries. Two other passengers in Preuss’ vehicle, 17-year-old Sabrina Martinez, and 28-year-old David Zukowski, were also transported to the hospital.
A 13-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the victim is being withheld until the child’s family can be notified.
The Taconic Hills Central School District says families and students were involved in the crash. Counselors, teachers, and staff are available on Friday for students and families who need emotional support or assistance.
At this time, police say there is no indication either driver was impaired by alcohol or drugs. Police are trying to determine if the passengers in both vehicles were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
The crash is under investigation.
