Brooklyn, NY : 64-year-old Martin Hernandez Tufino struck and killed by a private bus in Midwood, Brooklyn on Friday afternoon, February 20, 2015

New York police say a Brooklyn pedestrian was killed when he was struck by a Freightliner bus as it was turning onto a street where the man was walking within a marked crosswalk.

Police say officers responded to a call at Coney Island Avenue and Avenue M about 2:10 p.m. Friday and found the man unconscious with severe head trauma. Emergency responders arrived and pronounced him dead. He was identified as 64-year-old Martin Hernandez Tufino.

The bus operator remained on the scene and an investigation was underway.
