Mebane , NC : Ten Passengers were hospitalized after Bus headed crash near Almance County on Wednesday , December 24th 2014
A bus headed to Richmond crashed in North Carolina on Wednesday morning, sending 10 passengers to the hospital, according to a Greyhound spokeswoman.
The bus was carrying about 40 passengers when it crashed shortly after 9:30 a.m. near the Alamance County/Orange County line, outside Burlington, N.C., according to Greyhound spokeswoman Lanesha Gipson. She said some who were sent to the hospital had been released by Wednesday evening and the rest were expected to leave by Wednesday night. Gipson said it’s unclear how many of those passengers were heading to Richmond.
The bus had departed from Atlanta, with a stop scheduled for Raleigh, N.C., before the final destination of Richmond, Gipson said. It struck a North Carolina State Highway Patrol trooper’s SUV that was on the scene of a fatal crash that happened earlier Wednesday morning. The trooper in the SUV was sent to the hospital.
Greyhound sent a second bus to carry to Raleigh those passengers who did not need medical attention. And any of those passengers headed for Richmond were to be taken there by bus Wednesday.
The cause of the wreck remains under investigation by the N.C. Highway Patrol and by Greyhound, Gipson said
