SPARKS, NV : Several people suffer minor injuries after multi-vehicle crash in Sparks on Sunday, September 10, 2017
Sparks police responded to a crash involving multiple cars at the intersections of Vista Blvd. & Wingfield Hills Dr. just before 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 10.
Initial investigations reveal that a vehicle traveling southbound on Vista Blvd. drifted into northbound traffic as it entered the intersection, through the red light. Several vehicles in the northbound lanes were stopped at the red light. The striking vehicle hit threes cars and a motorcycle, pushing one car into the southbound lanes of traffic. The collision left a large amount of debris in northbound lanes, according to Sparks police.
Authorities initially had reason to believe the motorcyclist suffered major trauma, which forced the closure of the northbound and partial southbound lanes of Vista Blvd. for over an hour.
It was unknown what injuries the driver of the striking driver sustained. Police and medical personnel later determined that all parties involved suffer non-life threatening injuries.
Police say that the driver of the striking vehicle may have suffered a medical episode causing the crash.
Drugs and alcohol are not a factor.
The Sparks Police Department would like to thank the public for their patience during the road closure.
