MOUNT EATON, OH : Mount Eaton Officer in stable condition after crash on Saturday, 30th July 2018

The Mount Eaton officer struck by a vehicle while directing fireworks traffic on Saturday night is in stable condition at Akron City Hospital.

Patrolman Joseph Clark, 51, suffered a brain bleed in the crash, but is walking and talking some, according to Trooper J.D. Custer of the Wooster Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred at approximately 11:09 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. 250 and state Route 94, following the Mount Eaton fireworks display.

Robert Shafer, 28, of Fredericksburg, was operating a 2013 Chevrolet Cruze. He approached the flashing traffic light at U.S. 250 and state Route 94 and struck Clark, who was directing traffic. Shafer was wearing his seatbelt and he did not sustain any injuries.
