Passenger in Crash Dies from Injuries in Santa Maria California

The San Luis Obispo County coroner has identified the passenger killed in the crash as 21-year-old Lennon Dibley of Bakersfield. Authorities said Dibley died of blunt-force trauma due to the impact of the car crash. Investigators said 21-year-old driver Joshua Hurt was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash in Pismo Beach.

He is charged with causing injury while driving under the influence and gross vehicle manslaughter.The crash happened around 4:30 a.m. Thursday on the northbound side of Highway 101 near Spyglass Drive.One lane of the northbound side of Highway 101 was closed for two hours to complete the investigation. California Highway Patrol said Hurt’s Acura Integra hit the center divider concrete wall and overturned.

Investigators found Hurt with moderate injuries and displaying symptoms of intoxication.Once he is released from the hospital, Hurt will be arrested and booked into San Luis Obispo County Jail.
