A Rochester woman was arrested for driving while intoxicated after crashing her SUV into a tree on Tuesday night, police said.
Police said Nicole Higgins, 37, veered off the road in her 2006 Buick Rainier and struck a tree in the area of 626 Pickering Road a little before 10 p.m., causing the airbags to deploy and causing heavy front-end damage to the car.
According to police, after receiving the call, Dover and Rochester police found no driver at the scene of the crash. A K-9 track was initiated and a woman matching the description of the registered owner of the Buick was located a short while later in the grass just over the Dover line, police said.
Dover EMS was requested to the scene. Higgins was transported to Wentworth-Douglass Hospital with minor injuries, police said. Higgins was arrested at the hospital and charged with DWI, police said.
According to police, Higgins was bailed and released on $2,500 personal-recognizance bail with a court date of June 26 at 8 a.m. at Rochester District Court.
