Vernon, CT : Fatal crash in Vernon as winter storm settles over Connecticut on Tuesday, 3rd December, 2019

Amidst the first winter storm of the season, which settled over Connecticut on Sunday afternoon and won’t wrap up until Tuesday morning, Vernon police responded to a fatal accident on Route 30 early today.

Police Lt. William Meier said today the accident was called in around 2:46 a.m. when a commercial truck and a BMW collided at the Merline Road intersection. The driver of the BMW was taken by ambulance to Rockville General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the truck sustained serious injuries and was taken by ambulance to St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center in Hartford, Meier added.
