Gainesville, FL : Hit-and-run driver sought after Archer Road crash on Thursday, March 29th 2017
The Florida Highway Patrol is seeking a hit-and-run driver who caused an accident on Archer Road Thursday evening.
William Leo King, 59-year-old, of Archer, was seriously injured in the crash, which occurred around 7:50 p.m. near Southwest 107th Street, according to an FHP media release.
Troopers say King was driving a 2000 Ford Crown Victoria east on Archer Road when another car — believed to be a Nissan — attempted to pass it. The hit-and-run driver tried to re-enter the eastbound lane behind the Ford and clipped the driver’s side.
That caused the Ford spin out of control onto the north shoulder of the road and hit a tree.
The other car left the scene, continuing east on Archer Road.
King was taken to UF Health Shands Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the FHP.
Troopers said the hit-and-run vehicle is possibly a 2002-2004 silver or gray Nissan Maxima. FHP is asking anyone with information about that car or the crash to call Sgt. Tomas R. Dillon at 352-955-1960.
