Tallahassee,FL: Three-vehicle crash Tuesday on I-75 in North Naples hurt 7 people on September, Tuesday 26th 2017

A three-vehicle crash on Interstate 75 in North Naples on Tuesday caused serious injuries to one person and minor injuries to six others, including two children, state police said.

Pamela Lazarto was driving a 2014 Ford Fusion south in the outside lane of I-75 north of Immokalee Road at 5:40 p.m. while Edelfo Mazariegos was heading south in the center lane in a 2003 Isuzu box truck, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.

A third vehicle — a 2016 Kia Soul driven by Tyler Hughes, 16 — was traveling south in the outside lane, just ahead of the Ford, the report states.

Lazarto, 37, then "improperly changed lanes" from the outside to the center lane, causing the front of the Isuzu to collide with the rear of the Ford, according to the report.

The collision caused both the Ford and the Isuzu to continue toward the inside lane, with the Ford rotating clockwise and the rear section of the car hitting the cable barrier, the report states.

Mazariegos, 42, over-corrected and drove back to the center lane, causing the Isuzu cab, but not the trailer, to turn over, troopers wrote.

The right side of the Isuzu then struck the Kia, which then slid to the outside lane, the report states.

The Ford stopped on the grassy median and the Isuzu stopped on the road, blocking lanes, according to the report. The Kia stopped in the outside lane, troopers said.

The Isuzu was filled with timber and tree branches, "causing an excess amount of road debris," according to the report.

One of Lazarto's passengers — Tony Lindsey, 48 — was injured seriously and taken to Lee Memorial Hospital. Lazarto and her two other passengers — Ronald Lazarto, 2, and Ellina Lazarto, 5 — suffered minor injuries and were taken to NCH North Naples Hospital.

Mazariegos suffered minor injuries and was taken to NCH North Naples Hospital. Two of his passengers — Omar Bartolon, 27, and Ronaldo Diaz, 28 — also suffered minor injuries.

All involved in the crash live in Collier County.

Lazarto was issued a citation alleging an improper lane change, the report states.
