Bithlo, FL : Three people injured in Semi crash on Colonial Drive on Wednesday, May 18, 2016
Three people are in the hospital after a tractor-trailer crashed into a van on E. Colonial Drive in the Bithlo area, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The collision happened about 11:15 a.m. when an eastbound van on Colonial Drive stopped in the left lane near Exeter Street.
The vehicle behind the van stopped, but the tractor-trailer traveling behind the vehicle did not, FHP spokeswoman Sgt. Kim Montes said.
The big rig struck the vehicle and a passenger car on the westbound side of the road.
The tractor-trailer then jackknifed across the westbound lanes, Montes said.
Three victims in the crash received non-life-threatening injuries, Montes said.
Westbound lanes of Colonial near Exeter Street are closed until the vehicles can be removed, Montes said.
