Flat Rock, MI : Taylor woman at fault in head-on collision tells police she took three Xanax pills on Saturday, January 3, 2015

Six people, including two 2-year-old toddlers, were transported to a hospital after a woman who, according to police, had taken three Xanax pills hit a vehicle head-on on Telegraph Road.

The accident occurred at about 6 p.m. Saturday near Andrew Street.

According to Sgt. Christopher Goolsby, the at-fault driver, a 31-year-old Taylor woman, was headed north on Telegraph with her boyfriend and 2-year-old son in the silver 1997 Honda.

“I was surprised she told me she had taken three Xanax pills,” Goolsby said.

Several witnesses told police she was driving erratically prior to crashing into a blue 2014 blue Chevrolet Impala, in which a pregnant woman, her husband and their 2-year-old daughter were riding in headed south on Telegraph.

The family is from Flat Rock.

Witnesses told police the at-fault driver was going about 70-miles-per-hour when she veered left of center, hitting the Impala.

Goolsby said although the crash is considered to be a head-on collision, the impact was not directly in the center, which he said prevented the accident from being any more serious than it was.

The driver’s-side wheels on the cars crashed, Goolsby said.

Everyone was treated and released from a hospital except for the at-fault driver, who remains hospitalized.
