A single-vehicle collision in Simpsonville left one person dead Wednesday.
The Greenville County Coroner's Office responded to the collision on Davenport Road near Foxwood Drive around 1:45 p.m. Greenville County deputy coroner Kent Dill said one person died.
Dennis Chandler, 70, apparently ran off the right side of the road in a Volkswagen Jetta while traveling on Davenport Road and struck a fire hydrant and a culvert, the coroner's office said. The vehicle then overturned and landed to rest on its top, leaving Chandler restrained inside.
Chandler was pronounced dead at the scene around 1:50 p.m. His cause of death is still pending, according to the coroner's office.
Both Simpsonville and Greenville coroner's offices are continuing to investigate the incident.
