Man dies in motorcycle accident near Birmingham Alabama

A Childersburg man died in a motorcycle accident this afternoon on I-459 South, two miles south of Irondale.Clark Scott, 56, was driving a motorcycle southbound on I-459 when he and another rider crashed, according to the Alabama State Troopers office. Scott died at the scene. James Standifer, 66, also of Childersburg and also driving a motorcycle, was injured during the accident. He was transported to UAB Hospital.

The fatal accident occurred around 12:30 p.m. Saturday. According to the State Troopers office, witnesses said both men were driving with a group of other motorcyclists for the 19th annual Teddy Bear Ride benefiting Children's Hospital in Alabama. Each year, hundreds of riders participate in the ride to support Children's Hospital.
