Lebec, WA : Six people injured in multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 5 near Lebec on Sunday, May 15, 2016
Six people were injured and rushed to Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital and other trauma centers today following a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 5 near Lebec, north of Gorman, emergency response officials said.
The crash happened shortly after 11:30 a.m. Sunday in the northbound lanes of Interstate 5 just south of Frazier Mountain Park Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.
“We were assisting the Bakersfield CHP for a traffic collision involving at least three vehicles,” said Supervisor Bernard Peters of the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
“Six people were injured. Five went by ground ambulance to various hospitals and one went by air to Henry Mayo,” he said.
“The call was for three vehicles with report of one person possibly ejected,” Peters said.
Traffic was shut down in both directions on the freeway about 12:15 p.m. to allow for the rescue helicopter to land, according to the CHP.
