ERDA, UT : Critical Tooele County car vs semi collision on Thursday, 25th May 2023

A portion of Midvalley Highway through Tooele County was closed Thursday morning after a semi truck turned in front of oncoming traffic, causing a serious crash.

Troopers with Utah Highway Patrol told 2News that the semi was headed northwest on Parachute Lane in Erda shortly before 7:30 a.m. when the driver attempted a westbound turn onto Highway 179, near I-80.

According to troopers, the semi truck driver turned out in front of oncoming traffic and collided with a small car.

The driver of the car received serious-to-critical injuries and had to be transported to a nearby hospital via medical helicopter.
