BENTON, IL : Drivers urged to avoid I-57 near Benton after crash on Saturday, 13th April 2024

A car crash has caused increased traffic congestion on I-57.

The Franklin County Emergency Management Agency sent out an alert informing drivers of a crash on the northbound side of I-57 at 10:45 a.m. The crash sits at mile-marker 68 near the West Frankfort and Benton exits.

Officials say the crash has not caused a known threat to lives or properties. Crews urge drivers to detour where possible.

According to the release, officials should be on the scene by noon.
