Phillips County, AR : 82-year-old Mellwood woman killed in a 1-vehicle accident on Highway 44 west of Elaine on Saturday, March 26, 2016

An 82-year-old Mellwood woman was killed Saturday in a 1-vehicle accident that occurred on Highway 44 west of Elaine.

According to Arkansas State Police reports, the accident happened at approximately 9:53 a.m. Ann Everhart was headed north in a 2000 Mercury Marquis.

The report states that the vehicle left the roadway on the right side and then crossed the centerline and into a ditch. The vehicle also struck a tree.

Phillips County Coroner Earnest Larry pronounced Ms. Everhart dead at the scene of the accident.

The ASP report says the weather conditions were clear at the time of the accident and the road conditions were listed as dry.

Trooper Fir Scott was the investigating officer.
