WISE, VA : Three killed in Wise County crash at the 48-mile marker of U.S. Route 23 on Thursday, 15th November 2018
Virginia State Tpr. B. Turner is investigating Friday's two vehicle crash that claimed three lives.The crash occurred at around 8:15 p.m. Friday at the 48-mile marker of U.S. Route 23. The VSP reports a 2006 Toyota Sienna was traveling south when it ran off the left side of the highway into the median, striking a culvert and overturning several times as it cross into the northbound lanes of U.S. 23.
The Sienna struck a northbound 2004 GMC Envoy and rolled over the top of the GMC, coming to rest on the other side of the northbound vehicle.
The driver of the Sienna, Fred B. Russell, 60, of Mouthcard, Ky., died at the scene. Russell was wearing a seat belt. The driver of the GMC, Makayla J. Horne, 20, of Clintwood was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of minor injuries. She was wearing a seat belt.
Two passengers in the GMC, Pamela K. Stanley, 54, and John B. Stanley, 52, both of Clintwood, were transported to Holston Valley Medical Center, succumbing to their injuries on Sunday. Pamela Stanley was wearing a seat belt, John Stanley was not.
