Gaston County, NC : Woman killed and two others injured in two-vehicle crash on Monday November 16 2015

A woman was killed and two others were hospitalized in a two-vehicle crash in Belmont Monday night, police say.
The accident happened around 10:25 p.m. on Interstate 85 south between Exit 27 and the Catawba River Bridge.
Officials believe one of the vehicles was slowed or stopped in the right lane, approaching I-85 south, when the second vehicle merged into the exit ramp lane, striking the slowed or stopped vehicle.
Both vehicles propelled farther down the road, resulting in the death of the female in the vehicle that was hit. A passenger in her vehicle was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries. The driver of the second vehicle was also taken to the hospital. Their condition is also unknown.
Belmont police are investigating why the vehicle was slowed or stopped in the roadway prior to the accident
