Harlingen, TX : San Benito woman dies following ambulance, 18 wheeler accident on Tuesday afternoon, July 19, 2016

Although authorities have released the name of a woman who died after being involved in an accident between an ambulance and a tractor-trailer rig, her cause of death is unknown.

Brownsville police spokesman J.J. Trevino said Elizabeth Ruiz, 50, of San Benito, died at a Brownsville hospital. Because no autopsy has been ordered, authorities will not know the cause of Reyes' death.
The accident happened Tuesday afternoon at the intersection of FM 511 and FM 1847, also known as Paredes Line Road, Brownsville police said.

Trevino said the ambulance was running “Code 3 which is lights and sirens” and was traveling south on Paredes Line Road while the truck was heading east on FM 511.

The two vehicles ended up colliding at the intersection which caused the ambulance to flip over. Witnesses told police the truck driver had the green light at the intersection. “But that has yet to be confirmed,” Trevino said.

The medics in the ambulance, the truck driver and the female patient had all been transported to area hospitals. The 50-year-old woman died at the hospital.
