School bus involved in minor collision
Tuesday morning a Randolph County school bus filled with students traveling to the Woodland girls basketball semi-final game in Birmingham was involved in a minor accident about 8 a.m., said Lisa Copeland.
Her daughter, Audree, was on the bus and immediately texted her to let her know she was all right.
A following car with four Woodland students in it ran into the back of the school bus along Interstate 20 near the Interstate 20/59 split.
The car ran under the rear of the bus but no one was injured in the bus or in the car. The bus continued on to Birmingham so she did not believe it was substantially damaged, she said.
The bus was filled with band members who were disappointed they did not get to play at half-time of the game, she said.
By the time the accident was cleared and the report made the students did not have time upon arrival to get out their instruments and get into position to play. Copeland also attended the morning game.
All the students, including those in the car, arrived in time to see half of the game. They hope to get to perform Friday when the team plays in the championship game against Prattville Christian, she said.
