Authorities ID motorcyclist killed in Hughson funeral procession for fellow biker

Authorities on Monday identified the victim of a motorcycle accident who crashed during a funeral procession for a fellow motorcyclist.
Tyler Daniel Anderson was taking part in a funeral procession Saturday for Maurice Moniz, who died last week in an accident in Turlock.The crash occurred in Hughson at about 1:10 p.m. Authorities said Anderson had stopped traffic for the procession to go through the area, but nobody had the permit required for such activity.
Anderson, 34, of Turlock had just stopped traffic at an intersection on Santa Fe Avenue and was trying to catch up with the rest of the procession when he lost control of the motorcycle and crashed at Tully Road.Anderson hit the roadway and died at the scene. California Highway Patrol officer Eric Parsons said authorities do not know what made Anderson crash.Parsons did not know how many people were involved in the procession but said any event that involves traffic control or street closures requires a permit. Street fairs, parades and marathons require the same type of permit and, depending on the size and type of traffic restriction, sometimes entail coordination with law enforcement.No one got a permit from either Hughson or the county for Saturday’s procession, Parsons said.Moniz, 19, died Nov. 8 on West Main Street in Turlock after he tried to stop for traffic and his motorcycle started to skid.Moniz slid several hundred feet before being ejected from the motorcycle and crashing into the back of a stopped car.In both circumstances, the motorcyclists were wearing helmets.
