A truck driver was taken to UPMC Hamot for treatment following a crash involving a garbage truck that shut down an Interstate 79 on-ramp for several hours on Monday morning.
The accident happened shortly after 9 a.m. Monday on the northbound on-ramp of I-79 off Conneaut Lake Road in Vernon Township. The truck was negotiating a curve onto I-79 when the truck overturned, causing its load of garbage to spill, according to the Pennsylvania State Police in Meadville.
The driver, 33-year-old Hadley resident Ryan L. Fabiann, was transported to UPMC Hamot with unknown injuries, troopers reported. The on-ramp was closed for several hours to clean up the garbage and remove the truck, according to state police.
