Albuquerque, NM : 4-year-old girl killed in collision off I-40 in Albuquerque on Friday, April 29, 2016

Police say a 4-year-old girl has died after two vehicles collided on an Albuquerque road.

Police spokesman Daren DeAguero says the crash happened around 6:30 p.m. Friday on Tramway near I-40.

According to officers, a car heading north turned onto an on-ramp in front of a vehicle traveling south.

The cars collided as a result.

Police say the girl was ejected from the vehicle traveling north.

The child was taken to the hospital in critical condition but succumbed to her injuries.

DeAguero says she was sitting in the rear of the vehicle and was the only person at the scene who was hospitalized.

So far, investigators do not think speed or alcohol played a factor.

But the incident remains under investigation.
