OLONIAL HEIGHTS, VA : 1 dead after two-vehicle crash on I-95 on Tuesday, 6th February 2024

A 21-year-old Chesterfield man died late Tuesday in a crash on I-95.

“A 2002 Toyota Camry driven by Luis Raul Acosta Jr., 21, of S. Chesterfield, lost control of his vehicle, spun out, and struck a 2015 Mercedes Sprinter van as it was traveling northbound on Interstate 95 at the 54-mile marker near Temple Avenue in Colonial Heights,” Virginia State Police said in a news release on Wednesday.

The crash happened around 11:15 p.m.

Acosta died at the scene of the crash. The driver of the van was not hurt.

Police say drugs and alcohol are not thought to be a cause of the crash, which remains under investigation.
