The coroner has identified a 4-year-old boy who died after a crash Thursday night in Spartanburg County.
Spartanburg County Coroner Rusty Clevenger said Hayden Jamar Jeter, of Union, died at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
Hayden died from a head injury and a spinal fracture, Clevenger said.
The one-car crash happened on Highway 215, the South Carolina Highway Patrol said.
Hayden was a passenger in the car when it ran off the right side of the road and hit a tree just before 7 p.m., Lance Cpl. Tony Keller with the highway patrol said.
Keller said Hayden and the 45-year-old female driver were not wearing seat belts and were thrown from the car.
Both were taken to Spartanburg Regional Medical by ambulance, Keller said.
