Raleigh NC : Raleigh driver charged in fatal crash on I-440 Saturday evening near Jones Franklin Road.
Raleigh police say a 21 year old faces DWI and felony death by motor vehicle charges in connection with a crash that killed a Garner man.
It happened just after five Saturday evening near Jones Franklin Road.
Police say Jacob Press was driving when he crossed the median and hit another car going the opposite direction.
In that car was 67-year-old Rex Todd. Police say Todd was killed, but his wife, 66-year-old Mary Todd, was taken to Wake Med and is now listed in fair condition.
Press, who recently played basketball for Wake Tech, was also taken to the hospital. He faces charges of DWI, felony death by motor vehicle, and felony serious injury by motor vehicle.
Those close to the Todds describe them as very giving and active members of the community. For 16 years, Rex Todd helped manage Garner's economic and community development. He started his own business in 2000 -- the year his wife became City Manager of Garner. That was 29 years after she took a starting position as an assistant clerk. She retired in 2007.
