Salem, OR : 42-year-old woman struck and killed by car in Salem on Friday, December 26, 2014

Police say a female pedestrian has been struck and killed by car in Salem.

It happened at about 5:30 p.m. Friday, when the female pedestrian stepped in front of a Camaro driving down Summer Street Northeast.

The driver, a 42-year-old woman, remained at the scene and was cooperative. Police say she wasn't speeding — the speed limit is 30 mph — and she wasn't impaired.

The victim's identity was not immediately released.
