Harris County, TX : Driver seriously injured in crash on FM 1960 West in NW Harris County early Friday morning, June 17, 2016

A man was seriously injured early Friday morning when his car slammed into the side of a pickup in northwest Harris County.

The two-vehicle wreck happened about 2:30 a.m. in the 5400 block of West FM 1960, said Sgt. S. Wolverton of the Harris County Sheriff's Office.

Wolverton said the driver of a Hyundai Elantra was traveling eastbound on FM 1960 when the driver of a Ford F-250 pulled out onto the roadway from a private driveway. The Elantra crashed into the truck, pushing it about 70 feet down the road.

The Elantra driver was flown by LifeFlight medical helicopter to Memorial Hermann-The Texas Medical Center. Details of his injuries and condition were not released.

The pickup driver had very minor injuries, Wolverton said. He added that tests revealed the pickup driver was impaired and he is expected to be charged with driving while intoxicated.
Deputies are investigating the crash.
