Butler County, MO : Man injured in a one-vehicle crash on Highway T just north of Butler County Road 569 on Monday, Nov 30, 2015

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says a man injured in a one-vehicle crash earlier this week has died.

The crash happened at 10:35 a.m. Monday on Highway T just north of Butler County Road 569.

According to an updated incident report, 70-year-old Jerry D. Bennett of Dexter was driving southbound when he suffered a heart attack.

Bennett’s 2000 Chevy Silverado pickup truck ran off the right side of the road and struck a tree, seriously injuring his passenger, 70-year-old Donna J. Bennett of Dexter.

The couple was taken by ambulance to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center where Mrs. Bennett’s injuries were later upgraded to moderate, according to the revised report.

Mr. Bennett, however, died at 3:44 p.m. that day. According to the report, it was a “non-highway traffic fatality.”
