This accident at Highways 160 and H in eastern Ozark County was one of two crashes here reported by the Missouri State Highway Patrol during the past week. According to the MSHP online report, the crash occurred when a 2007 Mitsubishi Endeavor driven by Matthew Collins, 31, of Dora, turned in front of a 2012 Ford Focus driven by Ryan T. VanWinkle, 28, of West Plains. VanWinkle had minor injuries, according to the report, and traveled by private vehicle to Ozarks Medical Center in West Plains. Both vehicles were totaled, according to the report, which also said VanWinkle was wearing a seat belt, and Collins was not. The crash was investigated by MSHP trooper J. O. Prater. The second accident last week in which an MSHP crash report was filed occurred at 1:45 p.m. June 4 when a 2011 Kia Soul driven by Clora Bonham, 18, of Bakersfield, turned onto the roadway in the path of an oncoming 2005 Hyundai Sonata driven by Amana Leaf, 22, of Caulfield, according to the crash report. The accident occurred on Highway 160 about 4 miles west of Caulfield. Leaf, who was wearing a seatbelt, sustained minor injuries and was taken to OMC by Ozark County Ambulance. MSHP Cpl. N. J. Britt investigated the crash. Both vehicles had extensive damage and were towed from the scene.
