Grand Mound, IA : Clinton County man dies in ATV accident on Sunday, May 8, 2016

A 66-year-old Clinton County man died Sunday as a result of an ATV accident.

Jackie Linn Peters, of rural Grand Mound, was found dead at the scene of the incident.

The Clinton County Sheriff's office responded at 7:53 p.m. Sunday to a report of an unresponsive male in a creek. Upon arrival, the deputies discovered Peters had been operating a 1999 Honda Rincon ATV pulling a sprayer along a creek bank.

The unit allegedly rolled over and Peters was thrown from the vehicle and was found in the water. Upon investigation, deputies are concluding that the accident occurred at approximately 6:30 p.m.

Peters was located by a passerby who spotted the vehicle in the field.

The accident remains under investigation.
